A memory of a day told with and without photos

Our eighth year of apple picking at Carter Hill Orchard was not well documented with photos. This year A&C each brought a friend. Alix and Hannah tried to be as far away from us as possible which made photographing them impossible. Chance and his friend Alexander hung closer to Paul and I but being goofy nine-year old guys tried to elude the camera.

I came to the conclusion that my near lack of photos this year can also tell a story. A story of how my children no longer need to be lifted up to reach the apples, how they are independent enough to ride in the wagon out to the orchard with their friends, and how they prefer to climb the observation tower alone to watch for birds of prey.

I am grateful for the one constant, Paul. Walking by my side through the orchard, pausing to snack on a Mutsu, and carrying the harvest of green and red apples.
