It's Today! It's Today!

After my recent stint of dog watching Cally in April, I knew I just had to have one of my own.  I began an obsessive search with Paul's thumbs up.  About three weeks ago I zeroed in on two litters of Golden Retriever/Lab puppies being fostered in Mississippi.  It was difficult to choose just one.  We each had our favorites.  Of course not having the ability to meet them made the decision difficult.  The final decision came down to me; the puppy formerly known as Leo was chosen.

Saturday we drove down to Windham to meet the transport and bring home, the puppy now known as Neko.  He was smeared with poo from the tip of one ear to the tip of his tail and very shy.  A quick water rinse/scrub down helped.  Once Paul got the leash on him he turned into a wild bucking, jumping, twisting jumble of white fuzz.  With a few minutes of time and some distance from the excitement of nearly 40 families meeting their dogs he calmed down.  Before leaving we captured a shot with his litter mates (Linc going home to Vermont and Liberty going home to New York).

Upon arriving home, after a great ride in the car, we took him on a brief walk around the neighborhood before giving him a much needed bath.  He looked so grateful after we were finished.

Neko, we are so giddy to welcome you to our family.  We think you are going to fit right in.

  1. I loved seeing these pictures and write-up, especially after having met Neko already. A wonderful puppy for a wonderful family!
