Remote Camping at Upper Richardson Lake

::  The plan:  Remote camping on an island at Umbagog Lake in northern NH.  Reservations are made in February.
::  The reality:  Three weeks before our departure we are told loons have nested on the island which makes camping off limits.

::  The new plan:  Eight days of remote camping at Upper Richardson Lake in Maine.
::  The reality:  Only five days of camping due to rain everyday and the last three days the weather radio was calling for severe thunderstorms, high winds and the possibility of hail.

We put in at the arrow to the north.  Paul and Chance in the canoe with most of our gear.  Alix in a kayak.  Neko and I in the other kayak.  The paddle took us about an hour to reach our camp site in "the arm" (the arrow to the west).

Although the weather was less than spectacular (our rain gear got lots of use and the lush pine forest was heavily sprinkled with clotheslines), there was still lots of fishing, swimming, paddling (in between the downpours), eating, card playing, and Mad Libbing.  Neko was amazing.  He settled right into spending lots of time in the canoe.  He was an easy going tent-mate of Paul and mine.
