Sculptured Rocks Natural Area

Paul took us to this amazing place - Sculptured Rocks Natural Area. It's a New Hampshire State Park located in Groton. The Cockermouth River carved a narrow canyon on its way to Newfound Lake. The walls of the canyon are carved with interesting shapes and potholes.

It was the perfect place to spend a hot afternoon. We explored lots of nooks and crannies along the river. We found minnows swimming in the sun's rays and polliwogs for catching and releasing. I watched Paul create one of his signature balanced rock sculptures. (I love that man.) Alix, Chance and I got very brave and jumped from a ledge into the deep dark waters. OK, the ledge was only about three from the water's surface but it was still scary. That little jump got us psyched up for the big cliff jump. A jump of over 15 feet between two rock faces. It was amazing and fun and empowering!
