Umbagog 2008

From August 30 to September 6th we were at Umbagog Lake near Errol, NH - three hours north of Concord. We spent five days here last year having the most amazing vacation our family has ever had. This year we had the same campsite, remote site 22. We had the shuttle boat take us, our two kayaks and canoe, and our gear out to the site. We paddled back at the end of the week.

The week was spent
  • fishing
  • paddling for miles
  • exploring
  • relaxing
  • losing one Croc in the bog on the first day (poor Alix was left with no shoes)
  • collecting things for our nature shelf
  • building rock sculptures
  • swimming
  • rock skipping
  • watching a moose eat his lunch
  • having stone throwing contests for accurancy (we spent hours doing this)
  • eating really well thanks to our personal chef, Paul (We still had ice left after 8 days)
  • watching the night sky for shooting stars and satellites (We saw lots of these)
  • being mezmorized by the campfire
  • witnessing an Eagle hunt another bird
  • battling the wind that came up quickly one day when we were out paddling (I was so proud of Alix for remaining calm and not giving up)
  • riding Orkie
  • listening to NPR
  • playing cards

Click on the map to see our site. We left from the campground at the bottom of the map and shuttled up to R22, it's about half way up the map in the cove on the right.
