Oh, Wapack Trail we came back. But this time Alix, Chance, and I hiked from Temple Mountain through to Sharon. Paul and Neko hike the first half with us. At Holt's Peak, we split up. Paul and Neko turned around to walk back to the car and drive to Sharon to meet us. Chance, Alix and I continued on.
Alix is a fast hiker and several times I had to call out to her to keep us in sight. I was not comfortable having her too far ahead, alone. It was strange hiking without Paul, and also empowering. (goofy I know.) We took our time and stopped at a few of the lookout points.
When we met Paul in Sharon he told me how unsettling it was for Neko to have us split up. Several time Neko stopped and jumped up on Paul with his paws on Paul's shoulders to stop him. And other times he just lay in the trail looking the way we went and would not continue on. The herder in him likes to keep his pack together.
