Alix and I left the men at home this afternoon to spend some much needed girl time together. Our first stop was Outfitters Thrift Store Boutique, a wonderful upscale second hand woman's clothing store. I tried on several items but nothing came home with me. Alix was happy to find a pair of small gold sand-dollar earrings.
From there we went to Concord Antique Gallery in search of four different napkin rings. We've been using cloth napkins for years and typically after one meal the napkins get tossed in the laundry. In an attempt to reduce the amount of laundry I do I thought if we each had our own unique napkin ring we could easily tell who's napkin is who's with hopes of getting several uses out of the same napkin. Unfortunately we were not successful in located four different napkin rings but I hit upon the idea of using tin cookies cutters instead after watching Alix look through a jar of them. She picked out a lion for Chance, a horse for herself, and elephant for Paul and a chick for me.
Then off to Bead It! to add to Alix's growing supply of beads and jewelry making supplies. She made some thoughtful choices once she was told she would be using her own money.
The day wrapped up with a wonderful salmon dinner using this Simple Salmon recipe from the Hippo Press. Then we all snugged in to watch Hachi, a sob-fest of a family movie about love and loyalty. I haven't cried so hard watching a movie in a very long time.
