Socks have been cast on for a belated Cmas gift for Mit. It's going to be hard giving this away. I love the colors.
A gift for Mom - Airy Scarf from the book Last Minute Knitted Gifts
A page featuring the color orange from Better Homes and Gardens inspired me to hustle down to The Elegant Ewe to find the perfect yarn for a new scarf. I chose two skeins of Heilo Burnt Orange.
The pattern is Easiest Farrow Rib Scarf from Otterwise Designs.
I am happy with the scarf, although I wish I had bought a third skein to make the length about four inches longer.
Hot of the needles -- socks in Alix's favorite colors.
Chance requested a black and orange hat.
I took a class at Shaker Village on Sock Knitting with two other women. In the class we would knit a mini sock. Sarah had us knitting with chunkier than usual sock yarn and larger needles. I chose a Debbie Bliss 100% Merino wool and size 4 double pointed needles. The class was supposed to run from 10-2, but by 1:00 our instructor, Sarah, (who also teaches the homeschool classes A&C have taken) realized that we were not going to be finished by 2:00. Sarah, who is just the best, generously agreed to stay until 4:30. And even with staying until 4:30 I did not quite finish until today.
I think I am ready to start a pair for myself. This time I'll use size 2 needles and Blauband Jacquard 80% wool and 20% nylon yarn.
But before the socks I have to finish Chance's hat.
Finished scarf for me.
